About the Pokagon Fund Children's Vision Program
The Pokagon Fund and the New Buffalo Lions Club are working together to provide comprehensive eye exams to all children in the Harbor Country Area.
The goals and objectives of The Pokagon Fund Children’s Vision Program for Harbor Country is to examine, diagnose and treat children with vision and eye health problems providing the best opportunity for learning, developing and becoming successful, productive members of our community.
Why You Should Have You Child's Vision Checked
Vision disorders are the most prevalent handicap during childhood. Common vision screenings provided in schools are not diagnostic nor do they lead to treatment, but rather only indicate a potential need for further care. The need for comprehensive vision examinations should not be confused with the need for vision screening programs. Each has a different purpose and generates different results. Good eye health for children is an essential step in the pathway to social, educational, and economic independence and success.
